Indus valley and Nubra valley + Pangong lake (9 days)

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival to Leh (3500 m). Airport pick-up and transfer to a hotel. Free day for acclimatization. Afternoon visit to the Leh palace and Main Bazar by foot on your own. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 2

Spituk, Phyang and Alchi monasteries. En route visit to confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers. Overnight in a guesthouse in Alchi.

Day 3

Chulichan nunnery, Rizong and Likir monasteries. Basgo fortress and temples. In the Basgo village, you will be able to see Ladakhi women spinning and weaving and to explore how the locals produce apricot oil, apricot jam, berry jam and juices. Back to Leh. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 4

Upper Indus valley: Shey palace, Thiksey and Hemis monasteries. Back to Leh. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 5

Drive to the Nubra-Shyok valley via Khardung La pass (5359 m) along the ancient Silk Route. Visit to the Diskit monastery. Overnight in a guesthouse in Diskit.

Day 6

Drive to the Hunder village. An option: double-humped Bactrian camel ride in the sand dunes between Hunder and Diskit. Visit to the Samstanling monastery in the Sumoor village. Back way to Leh. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 7

Drive to Pangong lake via Chang La pass (5360 m) for about 5 hrs. Back way to Leh (total trip will be about 12 hours). Overnight in a hotel.

Day 8

Matho monastery and Stok palace in the morning. In the evening, you will have a small surprise waiting for you, the traditional Ladakhi cultural show. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 9

Transfer to the airport.
